Monitoring & Evaluation at Dunbog PS, Fife'The Eco-Schools programme is vitally important in shaping the Scotland we all want to see in the future'

Eco-Schools is an international initiative designed to encourage whole-school action for the environment. It is an environmental management tool, learning resource and recognised award scheme.

We now have over 3,000 schools registered with the Eco-Schools programme in Scotland, which includes over 93% of Scotland's local authority schools. Over 21% of these schools have attained the highest award level - the Green Flag.

Our headline quote was made in May 2008 by Maureen Watt, Minister for Schools and Skills, and further demonstrates the Scottish Government's committment to the Eco-Schools programme.
