How Do I Take Part?
In order to participate in Eco-Schools you need to register your school.  Registration and participation are free of charge. You can find out more or register online on our website.

Award Process
If you’ve registered on the Eco-Schools programme and implemented the seven elements in your school, you can apply for an Eco-Schools Award.  There are three levels of Award. You can apply for any level of Award as soon as you feel your school is ready.  Click here to view the Award criteria.

The Three Levels of Award
The first two levels of Award are the Bronze and Silver Awards. These are based on school self-assessment and are valid indefinitely.

The top level of Award is the Green Flag Award. This is not based on school self-assessment - instead, our Eco-Schools Assessors will assess the school's performance against the Green Flag Award Criteria. Click here to view the Green Flag application page.

Although there is no technical requirement to achieve a Bronze or Silver award before applying for a green flag asessment, we strongly recommend that you work through these levels as part of your long term commitment to the programme. On average, a school takes approximately two years from registration to achieving its first green flag. Therefore, achieving a Bronze and Silver award is a useful way of showing progression and encouraging your school towards applying for a Green Flag for the first time.
