The Environmental Review

Before starting any environmental improvement programme, it is essential that you audit the current situation. You have to know where you are starting from so you can set realistic targets and measure your success. Conducting a review also helps to raise awareness of the programme throughout the school by:

bullet giving the school information on each of the current ten environmental topics
bullet making sure that no significant areas are overlooked
bullet helping pupils and the rest of the school community understand the current situation and prioritise action to be taken in the future

As far as possible, you should make sure that the wider school community works with the Eco Committee in carrying out the review.

It is essential that as many pupils as possible participate in this process and that the review is conducted on a yearly basis to monitor progress.
