Orbiston Nursery School, North Lanarkshire
Orbiston Nursery is situated within a Social Inclusion Partnership area (SIP) of Bellshill. 120 children attend the nursery, and play an active part on their Eco Committee. The committee comprises eight individuals including 3 members of staff, 2 parents, 2 children and a Home-School Link Worker. They meet monthly at lunchtime to progress their Eco-Schools work.  All children in the nursery were involved in carrying out a simplified Environmental Review. Much work has been done to improve the outdoor area of the nursery and there has been a real focus on Healthy Lifestyles. This includes reaching out to the wider community by looking at diet and exercise issues, with ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ courses organised in the YMCA Hall next to the school.

Hamilton Grammar School, South Lanarkshire
At Hamilton Grammar School in South Lanarkshire, the Eco Committee decided the best way forward was to engage staff as well as pupils in their Environmental Review. Staff were asked to conduct a review of the curriculum in their subject area and highlight areas where Eco-Schools work could be incorporated.

Pupils on the Eco Committee used the Eco-Schools Scotland Environmental Review documents to conduct a thorough review of all of the Eco-Schools Scotland topics and shared the results of these with the rest of the school.
