Eco-Schools objectives 
The Eco-Schools objectives in this area are:
Bullet for pupils and teachers to understand that by reducing, reusing and recycling their waste they are contributing to the National Waste Plan: Scotland 
Bullet to raise awareness of what schools can do to prevent waste from going to landfill
Bullet to reduce, reuse, recycle (the three R’s) waste whenever it is feasible and beneficial
Bullet to appreciate the financial as well as the environmental benefits of waste prevention and recycling activities
Bullet to work with the local community in raising awareness and facilitating waste prevention, reuse and recycling, whenever possible.

Learning outcomes
Through work on waste prevention, reuse and recycling, pupils should be able to:
Bullet name a range of materials and where they come from
Bullet discuss decomposition and nutrient transfer
Bullet collect, interpret and present data in different forms, using ICT, where appropriate
Bullet make presentations on strategies to reduce, reuse and recycle and prevent waste to different audiences, such as pupils, teachers and parents
Bullet work cooperatively with others.
